Here is an Excerpt from Alexander’s Journal

We came all the way down to Granada for one reason. Most people come down to Granada for the protection of hurricanes, but not us. We heard a run through the brush every Saturday and “raised the anchor.” We came in to Granada and started hashing. The hash is a run through the brush every weekend. We had a fun time running through the brush with friends on the hash. As we went on these amazing runs we met more people. These friends were very fun, strong, and passionate running partners. These friends were named Shakim, Huron, Alana, and Jamar. These friends were always by my side pushing me. As the hashes went on running with my friends (and my father and sister) running for a short period of time then slowing down so my father could keep up. My father eventually let us go ahead without him. We ran fast all the way to the finish. I never felt so free, but safe on a run before. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me to keep up but I always had fun. But even as my legs ached I knew I couldn’t slow down. Every hash after that we got out of the car and I was already looking for my running friends. We ran every wet, dirty (and both) hash with smiles and happiness painted on our faces. As we ran through the mud, rocks and rivers I never was alone. I always had friends by my side. Thank you, Shakim, Huron, Alana, and Jamar. I had an amazing time. Even if Secret Harbor marina wasn’t the best I had an amazing Saturday because your kindness.
